Marathon Prevost Coaches for Sale
29 coaches available
Marathon Coach is known as the world’s top producer of luxury Prevost conversions. The company started in 1983 in Coburg, Oregon, which is still its headquarters. Since 1992, the Schoellhorn family has owned Marathon, and the company has delivered nearly 1,400 coaches so far. Today, Marathon builds on two Prevost platforms: the H3-45, a 45-foot touring-height model available with double, triple, or quad slides, and the X3-45, a lower-profile 45-foot shell that replaced the XLII in 2006. Besides its main factory in Coburg, Marathon also offers pre-owned sales and service at locations in San Antonio, Florida, and Grand Prairie, Texas. The company also has a refurbishment program to help maintain the value of older coaches.

Common Questions About Marathon
Used Marathon Prevost coaches typically range from about $200,000 for early-2000s XLII single-slide coaches to over $1.5M for late-model H3-45 triple-slide VIP builds. Mid-2000s H3-45 double-slides commonly trade between $400,000 and $650,000. Key price factors include mileage, age, service and maintenance history, the extent and quality of interior updates, number of slide-outs, overall cosmetic and mechanical condition, and whether major systems like the drivetrain have been refreshed. Custom features, past ownership, and updated electronics also impact value. Marathon coaches hold value well due to production volume, broad dealer support, and the factory lifecycle refurbishment program. Marathon has built on Prevost shells since 1989. The first Marathon coach, built in 1983, was on an MCI/Greyhound-style chassis. The most actively traded model years today range from 2000 to 2018. Early-2000s Marathon XLII coaches (2000–2004) represent entry-level pricing, with 2003 and 2004 single-slide and non-slide XLII units commonly trading under $400K. Mid-2000s H3-45 models (2005–2010) are the sweet spot for double- and triple-slide layouts. From 2006 onward, the XLII was replaced by Prevost's X3-45 chassis, so coaches marketed as "XLII" after that year are almost always earlier builds. 2011–2018 H3-45 and X3-45 builds command premium prices due to newer drivetrains, updated electronics, and higher-spec interiors.
Marathon builds on two Prevost platforms: the H-series (H3-45, a 45-foot touring-height shell available in double, triple, and quad-slide configurations) and the X-series. The X-series started as the 40' and 45' XLII and, in 2006, was replaced by the X3-45, which is what Marathon builds today when customers want the lower-profile "X" look. Marathon offers a range of floor plans and custom-built interiors rather than rigid trim tiers; names like "Grand Marathon" have appeared historically, but today the company markets primarily around full-custom builds. Every Marathon unit carries a build or stock number (for example, "Marathon 1378") that owners and the resale market use to trace original spec, interior finish, and drivetrain configuration — current builds are in the high 1300s / low 1400s.
