Airlock One RV Air Purifier for Prevost Motorcoaches

What the AIRLOCK One actually does

Most RV air purifiers are countertop HEPA boxes that eat counter space and need filter replacements every few months, or ozone generators that require you to vacate the coach during use and can degrade rubber seals, vinyl, and the fine finishes inside a Prevost over time.

The AIRLOCK One takes a different approach. It mounts directly inside your AC system and uses bipolar ionization: two carbon fiber brush tips (one positive, one negative) that interact with water vapor in the passing airflow to produce hydrogen (H⁺) and oxygen (O₂⁻) ions. Those ions travel through your ductwork with the AC's airflow and neutralize odors and contaminants at the molecular level, including mold spores, bacteria, pollen, pet dander, and smoke particles. When they're done, they revert to water vapor. The cycle repeats as long as the fan is running.

It produces ozone, but well below the UL 867 safety threshold. The unit is certified at under 0.05 ppm, which is why you can run it continuously with people, pets, and premium interior finishes in the cabin. It's also CSA C22.2 No. 187 and CARB certified, and it's made in the USA.

Specifications

  • Dimensions & weight

5.1" (L) × 2.9" (H), 0.6 lbs. Small enough to disappear inside the AC cabinet.

  • Power draw

1W at 100–240VAC (50/60 Hz). Connects to the AC fan's power lead so it runs whenever the fan does.

  • Airflow coverage

Up to 2,400 CFM (6 tons) per unit, sized for a full coach zone, not a bedroom fan.

  • Certifications

UL 867, CSA C22.2 No. 187, CARB. Ozone output confirmed below 0.05 ppm.

  • Warranty & service life

2-year manufacturer warranty; expected service life up to 5 years. Now includes a 90-day risk-free trial.

How it performed in a Prevost

After installation, the first noticeable change came within a few days: persistent cooking smells absorbed into soft surfaces, the mustiness of a closed-up coach, and the low-grade pet smell from a dog who rides everywhere were all meaningfully reduced. By the end of the first week the cabin felt like it had been through a deep clean, without anyone doing the cleaning.

The other thing you notice is what you don't hear. No fans, no hum, no moving parts. The system is completely silent, which matters when you're sleeping at a quiet campsite or unwinding in the salon after a long driving day. Real odor reduction with zero acoustic footprint is genuinely unusual in this product category.

Installation: what to expect

Plan on about 15 minutes per AC unit. The AIRLOCK One mounts via the included magnetic plate or basic screws. No drilling into ducts, no special tools. You tap into the AC fan's power lead so the unit activates whenever the fan runs. That's it.

The only maintenance the manufacturer recommends is occasionally wiping the carbon fiber brush tips with a soft cloth if your AC system is in a dusty environment. Turn off the power first. Otherwise, there's nothing to refill, replace, or schedule.

If you're comfortable with the kind of install involved in a Magne Shade, peel-and-stick magnetic mounting and basic wire management, the AIRLOCK One is in that same territory.

How it compares to other RV air purification options

AIRLOCK One

Duct-integrated, set-and-forget

Mounts inside the AC cabinet. No filters, no counter space, no noise. Runs on 1W. Safe for continuous use. $249 per unit.

Portable HEPA / ozone alternatives

Visible, higher-maintenance

Counter or floor footprint. Replacement filters add ongoing cost. Ozone generators require cabin vacancy and can degrade rubber seals and finishes over time.

The AIRLOCK Voyage: portable companion for tight spaces

AIRLOCK now makes a portable version called the Voyage, plug-and-play, compatible with 120VAC or 12VDC. It's not rated for full-coach coverage the way the AIRLOCK One is, but it's useful for areas with limited ductwork: a rear bunk room, the bathroom, or a forward stateroom with a single vent. Think of it as supplemental coverage for zones the main AC doesn't reach well, not a replacement for the integrated unit.

Real odor reduction with zero acoustic footprint is genuinely unusual in this product category.

If you're building out a complete in-cabin comfort system, already running Starlink for connectivity and tuning your entertainment setup, air quality is the quieter line item that tends to go overlooked until it isn't. The AIRLOCK One handles it without adding any visible hardware or ongoing maintenance. At $249 per AC unit with a 90-day trial, the risk is low.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the AIRLOCK One produce ozone?

Yes, but well below the safety threshold. The unit is certified to produce ozone below 0.05 ppm, which is the UL 867 safety limit, and holds CARB certification. You can run it continuously with people and pets in the cabin. Ozone generators sold as air purifiers operate differently and at much higher levels, which is what causes concerns about rubber seal and finish degradation in RVs.

How many AIRLOCK One units does a Prevost need?

One per AC unit is the recommended configuration. Most H3-45 and X3-45 coaches run two to three separate AC zones (cockpit, main salon, rear stateroom), so plan on two to three units for full coverage. Installing just one unit in a multi-zone coach leaves some zones unserved.

Does the AIRLOCK One require filter replacements?

No. Bipolar ionization doesn't use a filter medium. The ions are generated from the carbon fiber brush tips through the unit's interaction with airborne moisture. The only maintenance is an occasional wipe of the brush tips if your AC environment is particularly dusty. Expected service life is up to 5 years.

Can it handle pet odors in a Prevost?

In hands-on testing, persistent pet smell, the kind that settles into upholstery and soft surfaces, was noticeably reduced within a week of installation. The system works continuously as long as the AC fan is running, so it's addressing odors in real time rather than periodically cycling through a filter.

Is the AIRLOCK One compatible with Prevost's 120V AC systems?

Yes. The unit runs on 100–240VAC at 50/60 Hz and draws 1W. It connects directly to the AC fan's power lead and activates whenever the fan does. The 4-foot wire length is typically sufficient to reach the fan power source inside the AC cabinet.

What's the difference between the AIRLOCK One and the AIRLOCK Voyage?

The AIRLOCK One integrates with your coach's central AC system and covers up to 2,400 CFM, enough for a full coach zone. The AIRLOCK Voyage is a portable plug-and-play unit that runs on 120VAC or 12VDC, suited for smaller or isolated spaces like a bunk room, bathroom, or forward stateroom where ductwork coverage is limited.
